SportVU Matchup Data: NBA Finals, Game 2

The Heat answered back with a Game 2 win on Sunday night to even The Finals at 1-1. We take a closer look at the matchups from last night's game, including the Spurs' inability to slow LeBron James with either Kawhi Leonard or Boris Diaw, Chris Andersen spending more time defending Tim Duncan and Danny Green checking Dwyane Wade.

No Answer for LeBron

Neither Kawhi Leonard nor Boris Diaw has had an answer for LeBron James on the defensive end through the first two games. Diaw has been unable to contain James from the field and Leonard, though having slightly more success, has sent him to the free throw line regularly. Five of Leonard's fouls in game two came while attempting to guard James, which forced the Spurs to match up Diaw on James on a more frequent basis.

More Birdman on Duncan

The Heat made an adjustment on the defensive end after Tim Duncan was prolific against Chris Bosh in Game 1 and had Chris Andersen guard Duncan for over four more minutes in the half court than he did on Thursday. While Duncan still looked to exploit Bosh with .46 shots per touch in Game 2 compared to .20 shots per touch against Andersen, Duncan struggled to have the same effect.

Green Guarding Wade

Despite taking the ball to the basket at a high rate, Dwyane Wade struggled once again to get engaged on the offensive end when guarded by Danny Green. Of Wade's 33 points, just four have come against Green on 1-of-4 shooting.
