2013-14 Fantasy Rankings: 1-15

By Brian Martin

Training camps are officially open, which means it's time to prepare for another season of fantasy hoops. Below are our initial top 150 rankings for the 2013-14 season. As the season draws closer, check back for updates as you prepare for your draft.

Note: The number in parentheses after each player name represents their overall value per game from '12-13. Value is based on how each player stacks up against the "average" player without regard to position -- you'll notice point guards are weighed more favorably than centers, but that shouldn't necessarily reflect where you would rank each.

(Rankings as of Oct. 4, 2013)

1-15 | 16-30 | 31-45 | 46-60 | 61-75 | 76-90 | 91-105 | 106-120 | 121-135 | 136-150 | Full List (Printer-Friendly)

PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
28.17.94.61.41.33.51.7.510.905

The Skinny: Finished last two years as #1 overall. Only threat to a three-peat is that guy in South Beach chasing another form of three-peat.

2. LeBron James (2) | Miami Heat | Pos: SF, PF

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
26.88.07.31.70.93.01.4.565.753

The Skinny: If he can get to 80% FTs as he's aiming for, has a shot to supplant KD.

3. James Harden (3) | Houston Rockets | Pos: SG, SF

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
25.94.95.81.80.53.82.3.438.851

The Skinny: Big drop-off after Top 2. Durability is what Harden has over others aiming to crack Top 3.

4. Stephen Curry (4) | Golden State Warriors | Pos:PG, SG

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
22.94.06.91.60.23.13.5.451.900

The Skinny: If he plays 78 games like he did last year, a strong bet to finish #3.

5. Chris Paul (5) | Los Angeles Clippers | Pos:PG

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
16.93.79.72.40.12.31.1.481.885

The Skinny: Tons of mouths to feed for CP3. Even if minutes are in 32-34 range, 10+ APG easily in play.

6. Kyrie Irving (9) | Cleveland Cavaliers | Pos:PG

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
22.53.75.91.50.43.21.8.452.855

7. Kevin Love (123) | Minnesota Timberwolves | Pos:PF, C

2012-13 Stats (Only 18 games played last season due to injury)
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
18.314.02.30.70.52.21.1.352.704

The Skinny: Expecting a major bounceback year. He's got a lot to prove and is preparing as such.

8. Carmelo Anthony (10) | New York Knicks | Pos:SF, PF

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
28.76.92.60.80.52.62.3.449.830

The Skinny: No reason why 'Melo can't replicate last season's career-best numbers.

9. Derrick Rose (N/A) | Chicago Bulls | Pos: PG

2011-12 Stats (DNP 2012-13)
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
21.83.47.90.90.73.11.4.435.312

The Skinny: Finished #6 in '10-11 and #13 in '11-12. We like his chances to finish somewhere between those two.

10. John Wall (29) | Washington Wizards | Pos:PG

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
18.54.07.61.30.83.20.2.441.804

11. Marc Gasol (17) | Memphis Grizzlies | Pos: C

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
14.17.84.01.01.72.00.0.494.848

The Skinny: Grizz expected to up tempo which should suit Marc just fine. Expect numbers up across the board.

12. Paul George (12) | Indiana Pacers | Pos:SG, SF

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
17.47.64.11.80.62.92.2.419.807

The Skinny: Scoring and usage could take a minor hit with Granger's return/Hibbert's re-emergence, but should make up for it with better efficiency (only 41.9% FG in '12-13).

13. Deron Williams (14) | Brooklyn Nets | Pos:PG

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
18.93.07.71.00.42.82.2.440.859

The Skinny: Ankle a bit of a concern, but should challenge CP3 for league lead in assists if he can stay on the court.

14. Anthony Davis (36) | New Orleans Pelicans | Pos: PF, C

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
13.58.21.01.21.81.40.0.516.751

The Skinny: Thin frame may have contributed to 18 missed games, so he's rectifying. Expect significant jumps across the board. He's the real deal.

15. Nicolas Batum (16) | Portland Trail Blazers | Pos:SG, SF

2012-13 Stats
PTSREBASTSTLBLKTOV3FGMFG%FT%
14.35.64.91.21.12.62.3.423.848

The Skinny: Surprised to see his name up so high with all of these bonafied studs? You shouldn't be. Still just 24, Batum promises to be a fantasy monster for years to come.
